The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus

Jump to prayer, menu suggestion

The Sacred Heart of Jesus is honored the Friday before the third Sunday after Pentecost. This feast day reminds us that Jesus is filled with love for each of us, overflowing with compassion and mercy. He understands our struggles and suffering, and he wants us to love and support us through all these difficult things. His love is so deep that it gave Him the strength to lay down His life, which we remember when he see the thorns encircling the Sacred Heart. His love is so great that He asks our help to give it to one another.

Prayer for your Table

Heavenly Father,
You gave us the gift of your Son, whose Sacred Heart overflows with love for us.
As we celebrate and thank you for the love we receive,
show us how to share that love with the people in our families,
our neighborhoods, our work, and our schools,
so that everyone we meet can know your love through us.
We pray through our Lord Jesus Christ and his most Sacred Heart.
Amen.

At dinner time, your family’s favorite pasta could be served in a heart shape with a few unsauced noodles crossing the middle to represent the crown of thorns that is drawn around the sacred heart.
