Corpus Christi

The Feast of Corpus Christi (literally, the “Body of Christ”), is the second Thursday after Pentecost. This feast celebrates a remarkable teaching: the Body and Blood of Christ is actually present in the Eucharist, and Christ’s loving gift of himself on the Cross is present in a special way.
Through Christ’s Body we are saved, and we refer to the Eucharist as source and summit of our Faith—everything about who we are as Catholics comes from Christ’s sacrifice and gift of His Body and Blood for us, out of love for us.

The pinnacle of our lives as Catholics is being united with Him in the Eucharist, where we experience a closeness that is the best taste of Heaven we can receive. Even when it is hard for us to feel it, we know that the Eucharist nourishes us in a way that nothing else can.
On this day, we celebrate this gift and the love Christ has for us. It is a great day to go to Mass, say an act of spiritual communion, or go to Adoration if it is available to you.
You may want to include grape juice or grapes and bread at dinner tonight as a reminder of the Eucharist.
Prayer for your Table
Dear Lord,
We thank you for the gift of Yourself in the Eucharist.
Thank you for dying to save us,
rising to make a path for us to follow You to Heaven,
and giving us yourself in the Eucharist so You can still be near us here on Earth.
Help us to appreciate the gifts You give us,
and to always remember You are here, waiting to hear from us in Prayer,
sitting in the Tabernacle in every Church, ready to meet us with love.
Let us always love you in return, Jesus, our Lord and our God.
Amen.
