Prayer for a First Communion 

Gracious God, 
You gave a gift greater than every other gift 
when you gave us Your Son to live among us, 
the Bread of Life come down from heaven. 
Now, you give us the great gift of the Eucharist 
in which He is truly present, 
body, blood, soul, and divinity, 
to bring us healing, nourishment, and salvation. 
Thank you for bringing ___ to this moment 
when he/she will receive [or “has received”] You in the Sacrament of the Altar for the first time. 
[Please be with him/her now as he/she prepares 
And help her to be ready to receive You.] 
Draw him / her even closer to You and 
Strengthen him/her to follow You all the days of his / her life.
